Creating a consistent blowout comes down to more than round-brush technique. Moisture level, sectioning pattern, airflow and finishing all influence how efficiently the hair dries and how the style performs. Below, cutting and coloring specialist, K18 Hair Ambassador and four-time #ONESHOT finalist Lindzie Geroni (@lalalindzie) shares the blowout sequence she uses to create a smooth, voluminous finish.
Lindzie starts every blowout with the GA.MA Professional iQ Sfera hair dryer, rough drying the hair to approximately 70 percent before introducing a round brush. Its high-powered airflow helps remove excess moisture quickly, allowing her to focus the remainder of the service on smoothing, shaping and building movement.
Lindzie works in slight diagonal sections rather than traditional horizontal sections, allowing the round brush to move more naturally through the hair while maintaining consistent tension from roots to ends.
As she blow-dries each section, she follows the brush with the airflow, then revisits any remaining damp areas before creating the final bend. The dryer's ergonomic design fits comfortably in the hand, helping reduce fatigue throughout repetitive styling movements.
Lindzie uses a boar bristle round brush to improve tension, smooth the cuticle and create a shinier finish. Rather than drying the hair straight, she wraps the ends around the brush before releasing each section, building soft movement directly into the blowout.
Before releasing each section from the round brush, Lindzie finishes with the cool shot to lock in the shape. Allowing the hair to cool while it remains wrapped around the brush helps maintain the movement and body built during the blowout.
